Ball Game Week is coming!
All games start at 3:30 p.m. Every class must send six players. Please write your names on the form outside the PE office before Monday. Parents are welcome to watch. Remember to bring a bottle of water.
Hi Judy,
Are you free this Saturday afternoon? My aunt gave me two new badminton rackets, and I really want to try them.
We can play in the park near the mall. There is a free court there. If it rains, we can go bowling instead.
Please bring a bottle of water. I will bring some rice balls for us. Call me before Friday night.
Ken
Baseball is the most popular sport in Taiwan. Many people call it the national game. In summer, thousands of fans sit under the hot sun and cheer for their team.
Long ago, a team of boys from Taitung won a world game in America. The news was on the front page of every newspaper in Taiwan, and the whole country was happy.
Around the Dragon Boat Festival, a big student game starts every year. Baseball is also good exercise, and it teaches us to believe in ourselves. Young players still dream of playing for Taiwan one day.
Grade Eight students joined these sports clubs this semester.
| Club | Boys | Girls |
|---|---|---|
| Basketball | 18 | 7 |
| Badminton | 9 | 15 |
| Baseball | 14 | 2 |
| Bowling | 6 | 6 |
Each student joined only one club. All the clubs meet on Thursday after school, and new members are welcome next month.
