Money in the Past

Long ago, people did not use money. They gave rice and got fish. This way was not easy. A farmer with a big cow could not always find the right person.

Later, people started to use small pieces of gold and silver. These were the first coins. Paper bills came much later, because they were lighter and safer to carry.

Today many people pay with a card or a phone. This way is very common now, and people do not use cash very often.
