Long ago, many cities in the world had high walls. The walls kept the enemy out. Soldiers stood on top of them day and night. When they saw an army far away, they made a big fire, and everyone in the city knew.
Some of these walls are more than twenty centuries old. Today they are quiet and beautiful in the sun. People no longer need them for war, but many families walk there on Sundays and take pictures.
很久以前，世界上許多城市都有高高的城牆。城牆把敵人擋在外面。士兵日夜站在城牆上。當他們看見遠方有軍隊時，就會升起一堆大火，全城的人就都知道了。
其中有些城牆已經超過二十個世紀。今天它們在陽光下靜靜地、美麗地矗立著。人們不再需要用它們來打仗，但許多家庭星期天會去那裡散步、拍照。
